- The origin of the expression "oreille de crisse" apparently comes from a lumber camp near the Saint-Maurice River. A man with a brawling temperament, after several arguments, ended up with a cauliflower ear. The cook, who was cooking grilled bacon, noticed the resemblance to the man's ear and jokingly told his guests: "Qui veut des oreilles du grand Christ".
